Jessica Utts is Professor Emerita of Statistics at the University of California, Irvine. She is known for her textbooks on statistics and her investigation into remote viewing.
She spent a year as a Visiting Scientist with the Remote Viewing Program at SRI International in 1988–89 and was a consultant for the duration of the program at SRI and SAIC. Dr. Utts was one of the evaluators of the government remote viewing program when it was declassified in 1995. She collaborated with Professor Ray Hyman (University of Oregon) to prepare a report assessing the statistical evidence for psychic functioning in U.S. government sponsored research. The report was part of a review done by the American Institutes of Research (AIR) at the request of Congress and the CIA.
Utts was elected to serve as the 111th president of the American Statistical Association, with her term as President-Elect to commence in January 2015, followed by her term as president in 2016.
Utts is a former Board member of the International Remote Viewing Association (IRVA).
